Common LISTSERV commands
and Topics scheme for
CFS-L / alt.med.cfs

 
All commands (which are listed on the left) should be sent as an email message to LISTSERV@MAELSTROM.STJOHNS.EDU.

Common commands for all users:

SUB CFS-L YourFirstName YourLastName -- Subscribe to the group.
UNSUB CFS-L -- To unsubscribe from the group.
SET CFS-L NOMAIL -- Temporarily suspends list mail to you and is the proper setting for being able to post to the newsgroup without getting any e-mail.
SET CFS-L ACK -- To receive a short acknowledgment notice upon posting.
QUERY CFS-L -- To check which options you currently have in place.

Common commands for e-mail subscribers:

SET CFS-L MAIL -- Restores mail delivery.
SET CFS-L TOPICS +MED +CHAT -- Add topics (In this example MED and CHAT).
SET CFS-L TOPICS -MED -HUM -- Remove topics (e.g. MED and HUM).
SET CFS-L TOPICS MED RES -- Sets MED and RES to be the only topics that are received.
SET CFS-L DIGEST -- Has all messages sent as one large message.
SET CFS-L NODIGEST -- Switches you from digest to individual messages.
SET CFS-L SUBJ -- Inserts "CFS-L" at the beginning of each Subject: line.
SET CFS-L FULL -- Full mail headers.
SET CFS-L SHORT -- Makes message mail-headers briefer.

MEDIA:  discussion of news articles, TV broadcasts, etc. regarding CFS
CHAT:   social talk
HUM:    humor
ADMIN:  about the CFS group
FAQ:    special notices on "frequently asked questions"

Never reply blindly, always check that your Subject: has the correct topic. Topic keywords always include a colon, multiple keywords must be separated by a comma. e.g. MED,RES:
